A Fishing Guru runs private offshore and inshore charters out of Islamorada, the sportfishing capital of the world. We built this site because the questions we answer every day on the dock deserve better than a guess: what the tide is doing at the bridges, how hard the current will run, whether the reef will be fishable, and which fish are worth chasing this week.
What the site does
- Shows today's conditions and the next 10 days: tides, tidal currents, wind, seas, alerts, sun, moon and solunar periods.
- Scores each species and spot for the day with the reasons spelled out, so you can see why.
- Explains how to fish each species here: when, where, bait, tackle and the rules that apply.
- Shows public fishing spots and access points on a map, with the sanctuary no-take zones marked.
Where the data comes from
Tides and tidal currents are NOAA predictions. Forecasts, marine zone forecasts, alerts and live observations are from the National Weather Service in Key West. Hourly weather, wave and ocean current models are from Open-Meteo. Sun, moon and solunar times are calculated on the site. Regulations are transcribed from MyFWC.com and NOAA Fisheries and carry the date we last checked them.
